We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Home Economics Teacher to join our British International School in Benin City, Nigeria. The role involves inspiring students in cooking, nutrition, sewing, and household management while integrating local culture and fostering practical life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging curriculum and lesson plans for home economics.
• Teach practical skills in cooking, nutrition, sewing, and household management.
• Incorporate Nigerian culture and cuisine into lessons.
• Manage classroom activities and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Organise and supervise practical sessions in cooking and sewing labs.
• Teach financial literacy and budgeting concepts.
• Collaborate with other teachers to enhance the overall educational experience.
• Participate in parent‑teacher conferences and school events.
• Stay updated on current trends and best practices in home economics education.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification or license.
• Proven teaching experience in home economics or related subjects.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning.
• Excellent cooking and nutrition skills.
• Proficiency in sewing and textile work.
• Ability to teach budgeting and financial literacy concepts.
• Exceptional classroom management and organisational abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with the Nigerian educational system and local culture.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and software.
