Health Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Health Officer to strengthen quality health services across Borno State, Nigeria. Based in one of the implementation sites (MMC, Jere, Gubio, Ngala, or Monguno), you will support program development, capacity building, and on‑the‑job coaching for frontline health providers.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of essential lifesaving health and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services at primary health care centers and mobile clinics.
• Provide weekly clinical support, rotating among facilities to strengthen staff capacity.
• Coordinate with the supply chain team to forecast, receive, store, and distribute medical commodities.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including waybills, distribution plans, and audit records.
• Enforce infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and proper waste management at all sites.
• Facilitate drug distribution from pharmacy to service delivery points, ensuring adequate stock levels.

Required profile

• Experience in primary health care delivery or humanitarian health programs.
• Ability to supervise and coach health workers in field settings.
• Strong organizational skills for documentation and reporting.
