About the role

The organization, an indigenous non‑profit focused on HIV‑related health outcomes in Nigeria, is seeking a Health Informatics Officer to lead data integration, analysis and reporting across multiple health information systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead integration, cleaning and quality assurance of multi‑source health datasets (DHIS2, SORMAS, EMRs, surveys, genomic sequencing, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using Python, R and SQL.
  • Ensure compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, WHO data‑sharing protocols and ethical standards.
  • Conduct statistical analysis, predictive modelling and forecasting for disease outbreaks and vaccine demand.
  • Apply machine‑learning techniques (regression, time‑series, clustering, NLP, deep learning) to public‑health challenges.
  • Design and implement real‑time dashboards and automated alert systems using Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny or Python equivalents.
  • Provide technical support to epidemiologists, program managers and state/LGA health teams.
  • Develop and deliver training modules on health informatics and data‑science tools.
  • Conduct applied research and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals or technical reports.
  • Prepare analytical briefs, policy notes and visualisations for senior management, donors and stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in technical working groups on health informatics and data science.

Required profile

  • Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or a related field.
  • Proven experience in health data integration, analysis and reporting, preferably in low‑resource settings.
  • Experience working with health information systems such as DHIS2, SORMAS or EMRs.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply statistical modelling, forecasting and machine‑learning methods to public‑health data.
  • Familiarity with national data‑protection regulations and WHO data‑sharing standards.
  • Strong written communication skills for preparing briefs and publications.
