About the role
The Health and Safety Officer will monitor and assess hazardous situations, ensure compliance with HSE legislation, and promote a safe working environment across our sites in Lagos.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments.
- Plan and implement safe working practices, updating procedures as needed.
- Ensure equipment is installed correctly and safely.
- Write safety reports, bulletins and newsletters.
- Liaise with relevant authorities and attend health‑and‑safety meetings.
- Investigate, record and report incidents, accidents and complaints.
- Handle hazardous substances safely and make recommendations after incidents.
- Deliver presentations on safety to employees and managers.
Required profile
- HND or BSc in a related field.
- 2‑3 years of experience in health and safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
Required skills
- Knowledge of current HSE legislation.
- Ability to conduct job hazard analyses.
- Proficiency in preparing safety documentation.
