Gynaecology & Colposcopy Surgeon

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Gynaecology and Colposcopy Surgeon to lead diagnosis, treatment and management of a broad spectrum of gynaecological conditions, with a focus on cervical pathology identified through colposcopy. The role combines clinical service delivery, mentorship of junior staff, research participation and quality improvement within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage elective and emergency gynaecological cases, performing diagnostic colposcopies, biopsies, LEEP and laser treatments.
• Conduct advanced surgeries such as hysterectomies and other complex gynaecological procedures.
• Interpret colposcopic and histopathology results to ensure early detection of cervical cancer and other malignancies.
• Provide comprehensive patient care from assessment through post‑treatment follow‑up, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Participate in clinical audits, governance activities and development of surgical protocols.
• Collaborate as a core member of the Gynaecology MDT with oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and nursing staff.

Required profile

• MBBS/MD or equivalent with a fellowship in Gynaecology (e.g., FMCOG, FWACS) and advanced colposcopy certification.
• Valid licence to practice in Nigeria or eligibility for registration with the MDCN.
• Minimum 10 years post‑fellowship experience in gynaecology and colposcopy, including complex surgeries.
• Proven leadership in a surgical/gynaecology unit and experience in clinical governance and multidisciplinary team coordination.
