Graduate Civil Engineer

About the role

Graduate Civil Engineers support senior engineering staff in the design, planning and management phases of construction projects, acting as a key developmental platform for refining technical expertise and project management skills. The role bridges theory and practice so that projects meet design specifications, safety standards and regulatory requirements. The position is based in Abuja.

Key responsibilities

• Design and technical support: collaborate on structural, hydraulic and geotechnical calculations, engineering drawings and technical specifications using CAD and BIM software.
• Site oversight and reporting: carry out regular site inspections to track progress, check alignment with design plans and keep daily logs of compliance with safety protocols.
• Documentation and planning: draft technical reports, feasibility studies, bills of quantities (BOQ) and project schedules under the guidance of senior leadership.
• Quality and safety assurance: assess quality of materials and workmanship and enforce occupational health and safety (HSE) regulations.
• Data analysis and testing: evaluate soil investigation reports, surveying data and material test results such as concrete slump and compression tests.
• Team collaboration: coordinate with contractors, sub-contractors, architects and multidisciplinary teams to resolve on-site technical issues.
• Regulatory adherence: help ensure projects comply with local building codes, environmental laws and town planning guidelines.
