General Manager – Travel & Tourism

About the role

The General Manager will lead Excel and Grace Consulting’s travel and tourism operations in Port Harcourt, driving strategic growth, operational excellence and superior customer service. Reporting to senior leadership, the role oversees all aspects of flight booking, sales, finance and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s strategic and annual business plans, set departmental targets, budgets and KPIs.
• Oversee day‑to‑day travel operations including flight bookings, ticketing, cancellations, refunds and disruption management.
• Lead sales and business development initiatives to acquire and retain corporate and individual clients, negotiate contracts and build airline and GDS partnerships.
• Manage revenue, profitability, budgeting, cash flow, receivables and pricing strategies while strengthening internal controls.
• Establish high standards for customer experience, monitor satisfaction metrics and drive retention programmes.
• Provide people leadership, performance management and succession planning across the organisation.
• Champion the use of GDS, CRM and other travel technologies, identify automation opportunities and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business, aviation, tourism or related field; master’s degree or professional certification is a plus.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in senior management, preferably in travel, airline or corporate travel services.
• Proven track record in business development, corporate account management and commercial operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, teams and overall business performance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Global Distribution System (GDS) platforms.
• Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
• Hands‑on knowledge of flight reservation and ticketing systems, fare rules and re‑issuance processes.
