Finance Specialist

About the role

The Finance Specialist will work full‑time on‑site in Maiduguri, supporting Empowering Vulnerable Communities' financial operations. The role ensures accurate processing of payments, maintains financial records, and assists with budgeting and forecasting for development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Process day‑to‑day payments and reconcile financial statements to meet donor and organizational requirements.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Collaborate with program and operations teams to track project expenditures and provide clear financial information to stakeholders.
• Strengthen internal controls, assist with audits, and help develop efficient financial procedures.
• Prepare, review, and report financial data to ensure compliance with policies and donor regulations.

Required profile

• Strong finance and accounting background, preferably in nonprofit or development settings.
• Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements and reports.
• Solid analytical skills for budget monitoring, variance identification, and risk assessment.
• Effective communication skills for presenting financial information to multidisciplinary teams.
• Relevant academic qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
