Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will manage and control financial transactions for MSH’s donor‑funded projects in Nigeria. The role ensures accurate coding, timely payments, and compliance with both MSH policies and Nigerian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare payment vouchers, code all transactions and enter expenses into the financial system accurately and timely.
• Manage advances, reconcile receipts, and ensure unused balances are deposited into the MSH account.
• Process vendor and participant payments, prepare payment schedules and follow up on outstanding invoices.
• Maintain inventory and asset records, coordinate procurement of goods and services, and prepare deposit slips for bank deposits.
• Produce monthly administrative and financial reports, support month‑end and year‑end closing activities, and ensure compliance with internal controls and donor guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 2–4 years of experience (Doctorate with 0–2 years acceptable).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with donor‑funded projects.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage priorities in a time‑sensitive environment.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
• Familiarity with internet search engines and ability to learn MSH’s management system (Applied).
