Finance Control & Compliance Lead

About the role

Terawork is seeking a detail‑oriented Finance Control & Compliance Lead to ensure robust internal controls, regulatory compliance, and financial risk mitigation across its FMCG, retail, and distribution operations. The role will be based in Sango Ota, Ogun, and will work closely with Finance and Operations teams to drive accountability and operational discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continuously improve internal control frameworks and compliance processes.
• Monitor financial controls, approval workflows, and segregation of duties.
• Conduct transaction reviews, stock verification, and routine control testing.
• Identify financial risks, control gaps, and process weaknesses, escalating issues as needed.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, WHT, and other statutory obligations.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Prepare accurate compliance and control reports for management decision‑making.
• Collaborate with Finance and Operations to enhance accountability and operational discipline.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Mandatory ICAN certification.
• 4–8 years of experience in Accounting, Audit, Internal Controls, or Compliance.
• Strong background in FMCG, retail, or distribution environments.
• In‑depth knowledge of Nigerian VAT, PAYE, and WHT regulations.
• Proven experience designing and enforcing internal control frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Audit or regulatory review experience is an advantage.
