Factory Accountant – Manufacturing

About the role

Evans Industries Limited is seeking a Factory Accountant to oversee all financial activities within its soap manufacturing plant in Lagos. The role involves managing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and production cost control to support budgeting and profitability. You will provide financial insights that drive operational efficiency across the factory.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate costing systems for products and processes, monitor standard vs actual costs and analyse variances.
• Track and value raw materials, work‑in‑progress and finished goods, reconcile inventory records with physical counts.
• Assist in preparing operational budgets and forecasts, monitor performance and identify cost overruns.
• Prepare factory‑related financial reports and performance dashboards, ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory regulations.
• Collaborate with HR and production to record labour costs and analyse labour efficiency.
• Monitor capital investments, maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Work closely with production, procurement, stores and logistics teams to provide cost‑efficiency recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is a strong advantage.
• 3‑5 years of experience in manufacturing or production accounting, with proven cost accounting and inventory control expertise.
