Equity Trader

About the role

A dynamic trading team is looking for a highly motivated and results-oriented Equity Trader. The successful candidate will execute trading strategies across equity instruments, manage risk and contribute to the profitability of the trading desk.

Key responsibilities

• Execute trades across various equity instruments (stocks) based on market analysis and trading strategies.
• Monitor market movements in real time and react swiftly to changing conditions.
• Manage risk through stop-loss orders and position-sizing strategies.
• Conduct fundamental and technical analysis, including economic indicators, company financials and market trends.
• Develop and refine trading strategies, and develop and back-test them based on technical analysis.
• Stay informed on market news, regulatory changes and other market developments.
• Manage an existing portfolio with a proven track record of 10-15% consistent returns in the last year, monitoring and optimizing its performance.
• Prepare regular performance reports and conduct portfolio reviews.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and exchange rules, and maintain accurate trading records.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Mandatory Authorized Dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange certification.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in proprietary trading.
• Proven track record of achieving 10-15% consistent returns on a portfolio in the last year.

Required skills

• Technical analysis, including charting techniques and technical indicators.
• Proficiency in trading platforms and order management systems.
• Strong quantitative and data analysis skills.
• Excellent knowledge of financial markets, including equities, derivatives and fixed income.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
