Entry Level Accountant – Port Harcourt

About the role

We are looking for an entry‑level Accountant to join our finance team in Port Harcourt. The role involves supporting daily accounting operations and assisting with financial reporting for our retail, fashion and FMCG activities.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Prepare and process invoices, payment vouchers, receipts and journal entries.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Perform bank, cash and ledger reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial reports, management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Compile financial data for management decision‑making and audit documentation.
• Ensure compliance with statutory remittances (VAT, PAYE, pension, withholding tax) and company accounting policies.
• Maintain proper filing of financial documents and assist with inventory and fixed‑asset records.
• Respond to finance‑related inquiries from internal departments and perform other duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting or a related discipline.
• 0–2 years of accounting experience.
• Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or a valid exemption certificate.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho Books or Tally.
