About the role

A global Internet venture capitalist firm, which invests in large, fast-growing Internet projects across Russia, Ukraine, Asia and Africa, has expanded into Nigeria and is hiring an Editor for its Nigerian business. The role is based in Lagos and covers the content of the website.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the website content so that coverage meets quality and quantity requirements.
• Edit and polish submissions and bylined articles.
• Help conceive and launch new editorial products, site features and brand extensions.
• Recruit and retain contributors.
• Work with other editors and copy staff to keep published material consistent and accurate.
• Work with web development to activate the audience and use social channels such as Twitter and Facebook.
• Stay up to date with publishing trends and best practices.
• Assist the copy editor with editing and coding columns, cropping and uploading images.
• Ensure articles are delivered on time and meet sponsorship requirements.

Required profile

• Graduate degree (or equivalent) in English, Journalism or Communication.
• Experience as an Editor in print, online or TV media.
• Proven track record of producing a quality online editorial product and managing staff internally and externally.
• Ability to multitask and meet many deadlines; upbeat, energetic and sociable.
