Doctor, Stabilization Center

About the role

The Doctor at the Stabilization Center will lead clinical care for children with severe acute malnutrition, ensuring implementation of CMAM and IYCF programs in line with national and international standards. The role involves daily ward rounds, supervision of staff, and coordination with health authorities and partners to achieve program targets.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct morning and evening ward rounds with nurses and nutrition assistants, documenting patient notes and clinical observations.
• Supervise daily clinical management of patients, including administration of intravenous medications, emergency procedures, and blood sampling.
• Lead and mentor SC staff (nurses, nutrition assistants, cleaners, guards) and ensure proper use and storage of medicines and consumables.
• Coordinate referrals of complicated SAM cases and ensure timely follow‑up with OTPs and community health workers.
• Collect, compile, and analyze quality data, producing quantitative and qualitative reports for the Nutrition Manager and stakeholders.
• Maintain stock levels, oversee procurement compliance, and ensure all necessary tools and materials are available in the center.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor qualified and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in nutrition intervention programs (CMAM, IYCF) and ability to train and supervise health staff.
• Fluent in English and Hausa, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work in challenging security environments and adapt to local cultural, political, and economic contexts.
