DevOps Engineer

About the role

Chowdeck is an on-demand delivery platform operating across Africa, helping vendors deliver food, medicine and groceries. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to design, build and maintain the cloud infrastructure that powers our platform and internal systems at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and deployment systems.
• Improve system reliability, performance, availability and security across services.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
• Enhance monitoring, logging, alerting and overall observability.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational processes.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve developer experience and platform efficiency.
• Support incident response, troubleshooting and production issue resolution.
• Help evolve infrastructure standards, tooling and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience managing cloud infrastructure and production systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes or similar technologies.
• Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tooling.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and networking issues.
• Commitment to reliability, scalability, security and performance.
• Proficiency in writing clean scripts and automation tools.
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort thriving in a fast-paced startup environment.
