Data Engineer - Senior

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a large‑scale digital transformation program for a partner company in Nigeria. The role is fully remote and focuses on designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable data solutions supporting the transformation program.
• Build and optimise robust ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate data from diverse sources into analytics‑ready datasets.
• Develop cloud‑based solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and Azure SQL.
• Use Python and SQL to create data transformations, processing workflows, and analytical data models.
• Design and manage data models and architectures that ensure scalability, performance, and data quality.
• Work extensively with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake to build modern data processing and storage solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, data architects, and technical teams to translate requirements into effective solutions.
• Apply version control and engineering best practices with Git.
• Leverage AI‑powered tools where appropriate for code generation, automation, and optimisation.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, optimise workflows, and continuously improve pipeline performance and reliability.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with Python and SQL in a data‑engineering environment.
• Minimum 3 years of experience building solutions on Microsoft Azure services (ADF, Databricks, Synapse, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL).
• Proven ability to design reliable, high‑performance data pipelines and data models.
• Experience working remotely and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
