About the role
UNICEF is seeking an experienced education consultant to lead the development of a Foundational Learning (FLN) policy and its implementation plan for Nigeria. The role is office‑based in Abuja and will run for six months.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the UNICEF Education team and partner agencies in drafting a comprehensive FLN policy.
- Develop detailed implementation guidelines and a rollout plan aligned with national education reforms.
- Coordinate with government officials and stakeholders to ensure policy relevance and feasibility.
- Provide evidence‑based recommendations on curriculum, teacher professional development, and instructional design.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Education, Development, Policy, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in improving learning quality, curriculum development, or education reform, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Proven experience supporting government‑led education initiatives and out‑of‑school programming.
- Fluency in English and strong written and oral communication skills.
