Compliance Officer

About the role

Monas Consulting is looking for a senior Compliance Officer to design and implement comprehensive compliance and risk management strategies for its real‑estate portfolio in Nigeria. The role will oversee regulatory adherence, internal audits, and anti‑money‑laundering protocols across all subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute compliance and risk management frameworks aligned with corporate objectives.
• Lead enterprise‑wide risk assessments and mitigation initiatives for all subsidiaries.
• Ensure adherence to Nigerian real‑estate laws, the Land Use Act, urban planning regulations, and state‑specific property rules.
• Manage relationships with SEC Nigeria, CBN, Corporate Affairs Commission and other professional bodies.
• Oversee statutory approval processes such as Certificate of Occupancy, Environmental Impact Assessments and development permits.
• Supervise AML protocols for high‑value property transactions.
• Direct internal audit programmes covering development, construction, sales and investment activities.
• Mentor and develop compliance and audit teams to achieve operational excellence.

Required profile

• LL.B degree with BL qualification.
• 3–5 years of experience in real‑estate, construction, investment, corporate law or other regulated sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian property law, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with SEC‑regulated products or investment structures is an advantage.
• Proven track record leading internal audits, handling contracts, land documentation and regulatory approvals.
• High ethical standards, discretion and strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
