Chief Financial and Operating Officer

About the role

A full-time Chief Financial and Operating Officer position based in Lagos, Nigeria, combining finance leadership with hands-on delivery of client implementations. The role reports weekly to the CEO and sits in a group-wide senior leadership seat with a direct line to the founder.

Key responsibilities

• Finance: produce monthly management accounts and a consolidated group view, run weekly cash position and a rolling 13-week forecast, own budgets and the financial model, and prepare for audits
• Tax and statutory filings in Nigeria and the US, intercompany balances, fund accounting for the agriculture fund and capital raising with the founder
• Design and enforce finance policies, internal controls and segregation of duties
• Operations: lead client implementations end to end, run quality control, own client support and work with the CTO on release planning
• Leadership: lead the accounting team and the delivery team, and report weekly to the CEO on finance, cash, implementations, risks and client health

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant qualification: ICAN, ACCA or CPA (US)
• 12+ years in finance, with 5+ leading the finance function of a technology, fintech or financial services business
• Track record of running operations or delivering enterprise software implementations or finance transformation projects for large Nigerian organisations
• Hands-on experience raising capital and multi-entity, cross-border experience (Nigeria and USA is a strong advantage)

Required skills

• IFRS command
• Project and people management (PMP or PRINCE2 is an advantage)
• Strong modelling, Excel and basic SQL, and the ability to explain numbers simply to founders, investors and banks
