Billing Officer

About the role

The Billing Officer will manage the end‑to‑end billing process for electricity, water, gas and internet services, ensuring accurate invoicing, payment monitoring and customer service within Alaro City’s utilities department.

Key responsibilities

• Generate monthly bills for all utility entities using ecWIN7 and Sage 300.
• Serve as the primary customer liaison, handling utilities complaints and service activation.
• Process daily and weekly gas volume nominations and manage gas shipping and reconciliation.
• Administer customer accounts, including applications, tariff assignments and service status updates.
• Monitor and reconcile payments, follow up on overdue invoices, and produce monthly billing performance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of billing experience, preferably in a utility environment.
• Strong focus on customer satisfaction and ability to adapt to a dynamic start‑up setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP software such as Sage 300.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong numerical, analytical and reconciliation abilities.
• Familiarity with the Nigerian Gas Network Code (NGNC) and utility metering processes.
