Assistant Lecturer I – Computer Science, IT, Data Science, Software Engineering or Cybersecurity

About the role

The American University of Nigeria seeks an Assistant Lecturer I to join the School of Information Technology & Computing. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research, and contributing to community service. The role involves close collaboration with the Dean to design and implement effective curricula.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching and support student learning both inside and outside the classroom.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students throughout the semester.
• Participate regularly in department, school and university meetings and attend academic functions.
• Engage in research activities, publish scholarly work in reputable journals, and supervise undergraduate, master’s and PhD students.
• Contribute to community service and development initiatives as directed by the Dean.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering or Cybersecurity from a reputable university.
• Minimum three years of university teaching, research, post‑doctoral or relevant industry experience after the Ph.D.
• Evidence of supervising undergraduate, master’s and PhD students.
• Proficiency in ICT tools and e‑resources for teaching and research.
• Record of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
• Experience in Africa or other developing regions is a plus.
