Area Technical Officer – Bayelsa

About the role

The Area Technical Officer will coordinate, control and support day‑to‑day network operations across the Bayelsa zone, ensuring optimal availability, coverage and quality of service. The role works closely with sales, marketing and technical teams to proactively resolve network‑impacting issues.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all zonal network operations and maintenance partners to achieve target KPIs and QoS.
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders, especially commercial teams, to resolve customer issues within agreed timelines.
• Track network performance, special events and ensure best‑in‑class service delivery during those events.
• Support audits of transmission, core and radio networks and oversee preventive‑maintenance schedules.
• Drive continuous improvement by analysing weekly complaint trends and developing improvement plans.
• Prepare and manage the annual zonal operating plan (OPEX) and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee spares management, power availability for IBS sites and ensure SLA compliance of colo partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecom Engineering (Master’s a plus).
• Minimum 8 years of operations and maintenance experience in the telecom industry.
• 3‑5 years of managerial or supervisory experience in a GSM/mobile environment.
• Strong analytical, presentation and strategic negotiation abilities.
• Proven ability to lead internal teams and external service providers to meet SLA targets.
