About the role
The Agronomist will lead tomato production across multiple sites in Bauchi, Nassarawa, and Kaduna. You will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and optimizing all agronomic activities to ensure high yields and sustainable practices.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement tomato production plans and schedules.
- Monitor crop growth, recommend agronomic interventions, and oversee land preparation, nursery management, transplanting, and harvesting.
- Conduct soil sampling, analyze fertility, and design fertilizer application programs.
- Plan and supervise irrigation schedules, monitor soil moisture, and improve water use efficiency.
- Train and supervise farm workers on best agronomic practices.
- Maintain accurate records of planting, fertilization, irrigation, pest control, and harvest activities.
- Analyze production data and prepare regular agronomic reports.
- Implement innovations to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Soil Science, Horticulture, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in large commercial vegetable farming, preferably with greenhouse and open‑field tomato production.
- Knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
