Accounts Director – Financial Strategy Lead

About the role

The company seeks an Accounts Director to provide strategic leadership over its entire financial management framework. You will drive financial strategy, risk management and stakeholder engagement to support long‑term growth across multiple African locations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day activities of the Accounts Department and mentor the finance team.
• Develop and implement a financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives, overseeing budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning.
• Provide quarterly financial insights to the Board and Executive Management.
• Ensure compliance with international accounting standards, tax laws and statutory regulations in all group locations.
• Lead external audits, regulatory reviews and maintain robust internal controls.
• Drive efficiency in receivables collection, cash‑flow management and ledger reconciliation.
• Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Negotiate financing arrangements, credit facilities and bank charges.

Required profile

• MBA or MSc in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional certifications such as ICAN, ACCA or CFA (preferred).
• Extensive experience in corporate finance, investment analysis and risk management.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, tax laws and corporate governance.
• Proven ability to lead large, multicultural finance teams.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and board‑level communication skills.
