Accountant

About the role

Index Managers is hiring a full-time Accountant based in Lagos (Marina/Ojota area). The role covers day-to-day accounting, reconciliation, reporting and support of external audits and tax compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.
• Prepare invoices, receipts, payment schedules and other financial documents.
• Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, and perform bank and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly and periodic financial reports.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assist with budgeting, financial analysis and cash-flow monitoring.
• Liaise with external auditors, prepare audit schedules and provide the records needed during audits.
• Review financial records for discrepancies and irregularities, and ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements and company policies.
• Assist with tax documentation, tax computations and compliance where necessary, and maintain proper filing of financial records.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• HND in accounting, finance or a related field.
• 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience, including external audit experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Professional accounting certification such as ICAN or ACCA, or progress toward it, is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle confidential financial information; good attention to detail and accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Experience with reconciliations, financial records and external audit procedures.
• Knowledge of tax regulations, tax computations and tax compliance is an added advantage.
• Analytical, organisational and communication skills.
