Accountant

About the role

Purple360 is seeking a motivated Accountant to join its finance team in Marina, Lagos. This entry‑level position will support the preparation of financial statements, cost accounting, and day‑to‑day accounting operations within a fast‑moving retail, fashion and FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries, maintain the general ledger and handle accruals, pre‑payments and adjustments.
• Perform bank, vendor and inter‑company reconciliations and support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Assist in preparing profit & loss, balance sheet, cash‑flow statements and management reports.
• Maintain standard and actual costing for raw materials, work‑in‑progress and finished goods; analyse COGS and production variances.
• Conduct periodic physical and cycle inventory counts and resolve stock discrepancies.
• Process supplier invoices, match purchase orders, support customer invoicing and credit control.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, IFRS/local GAAP and internal controls; aid statutory audits and tax filings.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Entry‑level qualification with a strong willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS or local GAAP.
• Understanding of cost and inventory accounting principles.
