Accountant – Financial & Statutory Compliance

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to oversee statutory payments, budgeting, and financial reporting, ensuring full compliance with Nigerian regulations. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and providing analytical insights to drive cost‑saving opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of all statutory payments and receipts, including Withholding Tax, revenue remittances, and other regulatory obligations.
• Prepare and monitor monthly budgets covering payroll, procurement, and operational expenses.
• Manage petty cash disbursements and maintain detailed transaction records.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations such as Tax Clearance, NSITF, and Pension obligations.
• Liaise with external auditors to facilitate timely preparation of audited financial statements and tax clearance documentation.
• Document, organize, and file all accounting and finance‑related records in both electronic and physical systems.
• Stay updated on changes to accounting standards, government regulations, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations on financial decisions, improvements, and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Support internal and external audit exercises by providing required documentation promptly.
• Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, cash‑flow planning, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support organizational goals and operational efficiency.
• Perform other finance and administrative duties as assigned by Management.

Required profile

• BSc in Accounting or Finance.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience post‑NYSC.
• Completed NYSC; ACA, ACCA, or ICAN qualification is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, numeracy, and organizational abilities.
• Critical‑thinking and inquisitive mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software – QuickBooks.
• Proficiency with accounting software – Sage 50.
