Accountant – Financial Reporting & Controls

About the role

The Finance team at Maximedge Technology and Consulting Limited is looking for a diligent Accountant to support financial reporting, controls and day‑to‑day accounting operations in our Port Harcourt office. This entry‑level position offers exposure to a full spectrum of accounting functions within the healthcare sector.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate weekly, monthly and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow statements.
• Analyse revenue, expenses and profitability trends and highlight significant variances for management.
• Establish and monitor internal financial controls; ensure all expenditures are authorised and supported by proper documentation such as payment vouchers, requisition sheets and invoices.
• Perform bank, POS, digital‑payment and cash‑till reconciliations on a regular basis and investigate any discrepancies.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, verify supplier invoices and maintain up‑to‑date creditor and debtor records.
• Coordinate monthly payroll processing and ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions (PAYE, pension, WHT, VAT).
• Maintain audit trails and documentation for all financial transactions.

Required profile

• Entry‑level accountant with up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
