Utility Engineer – Manufacturing (FMCG)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Utility Engineer to manage and optimise utility systems in a fast‑moving consumer goods manufacturing environment. The role focuses on ensuring high equipment reliability, minimal downtime and continuous process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, air dryers, generators, water and effluent treatment plants.
• Plan and execute preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance to maximise equipment availability.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control system faults promptly.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules, lubrication plans and equipment overhauls without disrupting production.
• Monitor utility performance, identify energy‑efficiency opportunities and drive process optimisation.
• Supervise and mentor utility technicians, ensuring compliance with maintenance procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and equipment documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, GMP and environmental standards.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and support procurement for maintenance readiness.
• Support installation, commissioning, modification and continuous improvement of utility and production equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• COREN registration; membership of NSE or NIMechE is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years' experience managing industrial utility systems in a manufacturing setting.
• Hands‑on experience with the listed utility equipment and treatment plants.
• Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and root‑cause analysis abilities.
• Proven leadership, communication and team‑management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
