Research and Policy Lead

About the role

The Research and Policy Lead will drive the organization’s policy agenda to promote gender equity and eliminate sexual and gender‑based violence in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. This senior position combines high‑level research, policy design, and advocacy to influence legislative and institutional reforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review, and implement policies and strategies for higher education institutions.
• Develop evidence‑based policy documents such as position papers, briefs, and factsheets.
• Lead advocacy campaigns that promote gender‑transformative policies and challenge harmful norms.
• Conduct and oversee qualitative and quantitative research on gender inequality and sexual harassment.
• Provide data‑driven analysis and recommendations for legislative and institutional reforms.
• Strengthen internal research and policy capacity through training and knowledge sharing.
• Offer technical assistance to tertiary institutions for anti‑harassment policy frameworks.
• Monitor and evaluate policy effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the development of research and program proposals aligned with the mission.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s in Public Policy, Political Science, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.
• 6‑8 years of experience in research, policy analysis, advocacy, or program development, preferably in NGOs, think tanks, or development organisations.
• Strong understanding of Nigeria’s policy landscape, legislative processes, and key stakeholders.
• Proven ability to design, conduct, and analyse qualitative and quantitative research and translate findings into clear policy briefs.
• Experience leading advocacy initiatives and stakeholder engagements at community, state, or national level.
• Excellent organisational, project management, writing, and communication skills.
