Purchasing and Supply Officer – Healthcare

About the role

The Purchasing and Supply Officer will manage procurement activities for the African Medical Centre of Excellence, ensuring timely and cost‑effective acquisition of goods and services needed to support world‑class healthcare delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement plans, issue RFQs and tenders, and evaluate supplier bids based on cost, quality and delivery.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, monitor performance and manage a database of approved suppliers.
• Monitor inventory levels, coordinate demand forecasting with internal departments, and ensure proper storage and distribution of goods.
• Draft, review and manage procurement contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and organisational policies.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities, implement best practices, and report on key procurement metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
• 1‑4 years of purchasing and supply chain experience, preferably in the healthcare sector.
• Professional certification such as CIPS or CPSM is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation and vendor management.
• Professional attitude, proactive, organized and high integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with procurement and inventory management systems (SAP, Oracle).
• Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong negotiation and contract management capabilities.
