Programme Budget Specialist (P-3) – 3-month TA

About the role

UNICEF Nigeria is seeking a Programme Budget Specialist on a three-month temporary assignment to support the management and reporting of programme and operational funds. Working under the Chief (PMR), you will ensure accurate tracking, analysis and reporting of income, expenditures and donor contributions across the country office.

Key responsibilities

• Track, analyse and report income and expenditures, including donor contributions.
• Manage contribution planning, allocation and monitoring for all programme and operational funds.
• Prepare and maintain financial dashboard and resource‑mobilisation reports.
• Support fund management, cost distribution, payroll and cross‑sectoral pooled‑fund coordination.
• Collaborate with UNICEF HQ, Regional Office and Country Office on budget strategies and capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Development Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in programme management, budgeting or financial reporting.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or local language is an asset.
• Experience working in international organisations, preferably in Nigeria or similar fragile/humanitarian settings.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP for financial management.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
• Experience with spreadsheet modelling and database packages.
• Familiarity with EU financial reporting standards (asset).
