Product Design Lead

About the role

Moniepoint Group is looking for a Product Design Lead to drive the visual and experiential direction of its financial products. In this role you will combine strategic leadership with hands‑on design to deliver user‑centred solutions that support the company’s mission of seamless payments and banking across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team of product designers, ensuring alignment, prioritisation and timely delivery of high‑quality design work.
• Mentor designers through regular critiques, coaching sessions and skill‑development activities.
• Maintain a hands‑on contribution to key design projects while overseeing project timelines, roadmaps and workflows.
• Partner with product managers, engineers and senior stakeholders to translate business goals into intuitive user experiences.
• Use qualitative and quantitative research, usability testing and behavioural insights to inform design decisions.
• Apply design systems and atomic design principles to guarantee consistency and scalability across products.
• Champion accessibility (a11y) and inclusive design, ensuring products serve a diverse audience.
• Collaborate with analytics and product teams to measure design impact and iterate based on data.

Required profile

• Strong portfolio that showcases leadership of design teams and delivery of end‑to‑end product design solutions across platforms.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing designers.
• Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands‑on design execution.
