Plant Manager – Operations & Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager – O&M for our power plant in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, responsible for overall management of plant operations, maintenance, and site administration. The Plant Manager will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance, drive customer satisfaction, manage costs, and lead continuous improvement initiatives while overseeing a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for plant operations and reporting team in executing all plant operation activities.
• Overall responsibility for plant maintenance and reporting team in executing all maintenance activities.
• Overall responsibility for all plant administrative activities.
• Overall responsibility for customer satisfaction.
• Identify, develop, and report business opportunities for continuous improvement aligned to customer needs.
• Manage plant performance and KPIs according to agreement.
• Estimate, control, and report direct costs to the Agreement Management team.
• Execute daily agreement management, planning and implementation of operations & maintenance.
• Communicate condition of plant equipment and performance to the operations and maintenance team, providing improvement suggestions.
• Administer training and competency development to ensure a qualified, motivated workforce.
• Implement plant safety policy following standard operating procedures and global agreement processes.
• Establish and implement standard Wärtsilä services procedures and agreement management processes.
• Prepare operational plans, budgets, and financial reports as instructed by the Agreement Manager.
• Optimize inventory management for maintenance parts and supplies.
• Identify and improve operational and maintenance reliability and availability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Power Engineering or related discipline (Master's or MBA is an advantage).
• Minimum 10 years experience in power plant operations & maintenance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Experience managing a multi‑engine Wärtsilä gas/HFO engine plant.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen with budget management experience.
• Excellent customer‑facing and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Expertise in plant operations, maintenance, and asset reliability.
• Thorough knowledge of HSE and operational best practices.
• Strong communication, reporting, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
