Internal Audit Specialist – Finance & Operations

About the role

The Internal Audit Specialist will support the Country Head of Internal Audit in delivering financial and operational audit programmes, ensuring compliance with policies, risk management processes and the control environment. This role focuses on enhancing audit quality and providing assurance to senior management and the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Team Lead in developing and monitoring the Financial & Operational Audit Plan.
• Lead audit teams, ensuring members have the necessary skills and adhere to audit procedures.
• Design risk‑based audit programmes, evaluate financial records and validate audit reports.
• Make recommendations to improve internal controls and manage ad‑hoc audit assignments.
• Oversee the work of audit analysts and ensure full utilisation of audit tools.
• Communicate findings and recommendations through written reports and presentations to senior stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the IIA Code of Ethics.
• Perform peer quality reviews and update risk assessments as needed.
• Identify training needs for direct reports and coordinate appropriate development programmes.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting or related discipline; a master’s degree or MBA is an advantage.
• Professional membership required: CIA, ICAN, ACCA or CPA.
• Minimum 7 years of financial and operational audit experience, preferably with a Big 4, global corporate, or international exposure.
