Head of Credit – Lead Credit & Risk Management

About the role

Loma Bank is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and results‑driven Head of Credit and Risk Management to lead the end‑to‑end credit function. The role will oversee credit risk management, loan origination, underwriting, disbursement, portfolio management and recovery across all loan products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Credit Risk Management Framework, policies, risk appetite and ensure compliance with CBN Prudential Guidelines.
• Oversee the full credit process including loan mobilization, application assessment, due diligence, financial analysis, collateral valuation and credit approval.
• Manage the overall loan portfolio, monitor performance, conduct stress testing and implement remedial actions to maintain quality and diversification.
• Design and implement effective collection and recovery strategies, minimizing credit losses and achieving high recovery rates.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing credit and risk team while fostering a strong risk culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking or related field (Master’s or professional certifications such as ACIB, CRMP, CFA, ACCA, ICAN preferred).
• Minimum 5 years experience in credit risk management with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role within a commercial bank, micro‑finance bank or fintech lending institution in Nigeria.
• Deep knowledge of CBN regulatory framework, Prudential Guidelines and proven track record of managing a sizable loan portfolio with low NPL ratios.

Required skills

• Strong analytical, financial modelling and credit appraisal abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, core banking systems and loan management software.
