Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join FMR Agency’s finance team in Lagos. The role will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of management accounts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing financial insights to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations and manage month‑end closing activities.
• Reconcile bank and payment accounts, promptly addressing any discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as tax filings, VAT, withholding tax and regulatory submissions.
• Support external audit processes and coordinate required documentation.
• Monitor daily cash flow and manage treasury‑related activities.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate records.
• Develop financial reports, forecasts and models to aid management decision‑making.
• Strengthen internal financial controls and ensure adherence to applicable regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• 6–8 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, preferably in cross‑border payments or fintech environments.
• Professional qualification such as ICAN (ACA) or ACCA.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax compliance and financial reporting frameworks.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Financial modelling.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP).
