Consultant – Technical ISFM – Soil Values

About the role

The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) seeks a Technical Consultant to support the Soil Values program in the Sahel region. The consultant will work directly with farmers, extension agents, and national partners to promote sustainable soil management and climate‑resilient agriculture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and field demonstrations on Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) and Soil‑and‑Water Conservation (SWC) technologies.
• Provide on‑site technical support to farmers and extension agents, including field visits and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate implementation of activities, ensuring alignment with program objectives and timelines.
• Support national partners in organizing and conducting trainings on bundled technologies.
• Build trust with local communities and facilitate participatory planning for landscape and watershed management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, agricultural extension, crop science or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of crop management, sustainable farming practices, and soil health principles.
• Excellent communication, technical writing, interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluency in Hausa is an added advantage.
