Chief Operating Officer – Transport & Logistics

About the role

We are seeking a results‑driven Chief Operating Officer to lead and scale operations for a transport and logistics company in Lagos. The COO will drive operational excellence, optimise fleet performance and support sustainable revenue growth while maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations across ride services, cargo logistics and fleet management, ensuring efficiency in fleet utilisation and route optimisation.
• Translate business strategy into actionable operational plans, identify growth opportunities and lead expansion initiatives.
• Drive revenue growth and profitability, monitor cost structures and implement cost‑optimisation strategies in partnership with Finance.
• Lead, mentor and manage operations teams including drivers, fleet supervisors and logistics personnel, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Ensure high customer satisfaction by tracking service quality, handling complaints and continuously improving delivery standards.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards, mitigate operational risks and strengthen internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering or related field (MBA preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in operations management, preferably within logistics, transportation or mobility.
• Proven track record of scaling operations and driving business growth.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience managing large, field‑based teams and willingness to travel.
