Central Control Room Operator

About the role

The Central Control Room Operator coordinates the production shift team to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality cement manufacturing. The role focuses on controlling major process lines, monitoring plant performance, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate equipment according to HBM Nigeria best practices, ensuring personnel and equipment safety.
• Control all major process lines, including commissioning, start‑ups, shutdowns, and emergency conditions, following established SOPs.
• Continuously monitor plant processes with available tools to meet production targets, equipment integrity limits, and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with field personnel for smooth plant operation and maintain quality within QMS limits.
• Track production results (volume, energy consumption) to achieve agreed plant KPIs.
• Direct Patrollers, Process Assistants, and mobile plant operators; lead breakdown troubleshooting and overtime staffing decisions.
• Serve as liaison with the Automation Engineer for major equipment issues and act as Plant Emergency Response Coordinator when needed.
• Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures, conduct safety meetings, and monitor radio communications for plant issues.
• Complete required paperwork, logs, and performance reviews for hourly production staff.

Required profile

• Completion of the professional‑level Central Control Room Operator (CCRO) certification programme.
• Strong knowledge of the operation and control of Vertical Roller Mills, Kilns, and Finish Mills.
• Familiarity with cement plant processes, SOP compliance, and environmental standards.
• Ability to lead shift personnel, conduct safety briefings, and coordinate emergency response.
