Backend AI Integration Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Backend AI Integration Engineer to join our Lagos office. In this full-time position you will build and maintain backend services that embed artificial-intelligence capabilities into production-grade software, helping automate complex business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Integrate AI and machine-learning models into reliable production systems.
• Build data processing pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Implement validation, quality checks and automated tests.
• Collaborate with frontend, platform and AI specialists on system architecture.
• Contribute to technical decisions and documentation.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in backend development and production-grade systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work on-site in Lagos and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one language: TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Java or C#.
• Experience with REST APIs and relational databases.
• Automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Data processing and handling of complex backend systems.
• AI/LLM integration, document intelligence, machine-learning APIs.
• Familiarity with workflow, rule-based and event-driven architectures.
• Cloud platforms, preferably Azure AI orchestration and data pipelines.
