Technical Superintendent – Marine Vessels (Nigeria)

About the role

Smit Lamnalco, part of the Boskalis group, is seeking a Technical Superintendent to oversee the day‑to‑day technical reliability of vessels operating for AfrikDelta Marine Limited in Nigeria. You will be responsible for maintaining fleet utilization, ensuring safety standards, and managing maintenance budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance activities on assigned vessels.
• Supervise, coach and instruct chief engineers to align technical management with company expectations.
• Plan and oversee repairs, managing crew and subcontractors within budget and quality standards.
• Allocate costs for repairs, dockings, damages and modifications accurately.
• Guide vessel crews to meet company standards and specifications.
• Promote Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) awareness and lead by example.
• Interface with classification societies, flag states and other regulatory authorities to ensure technical integrity.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of verifiable experience as a technical superintendent, port engineer or technical manager in a marine environment.
• Higher or secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architecture or equivalent.
• Former chief engineer experience on offshore support vessels is preferred.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
