Technical Manager Medical – Maiduguri (Roving)

About the role

The Technical Manager Medical (TMM) will lead and coordinate health programmes in Borno state, focusing on integrated primary health care, SRH, nutrition, immunisation and especially polio vaccination in hard‑to‑reach areas. The role provides technical guidance to field teams, ensures data quality and supports reporting to donors and the State Ministry of Health.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, implementation and monitoring of medical activities in line with INTERSOS project plans, standards and donor requirements.
• Supervise Medical Activity Managers, conduct regular monitoring visits and ensure high‑quality service delivery across projects.
• Maintain constructive relationships with donors, local authorities, implementing partners and health actors, especially the State Ministry of Health’s EPI department.
• Review HMIS data for accuracy and share findings with senior management; compile and submit donor reports.
• Coordinate health‑awareness events such as World Polio Day and support staff recruitment, training and performance management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in medicine (MBBS) or related paramedical field; specialization in Tropical Medicine or a Master’s in Public Health is desirable.
• Minimum 5 years of senior managerial experience in humanitarian health programmes, preferably with polio immunisation projects.
• Proven leadership, people‑management and strategic planning abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an asset.

Required skills

• Computer literacy – Microsoft Word, Excel and internet use.
• Experience with donor compliance, reporting and health‑sector coordination platforms.
