Structural Design Engineer – Full‑time (Abuja)

About the role

Mshel Homes Limited is seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join its Abuja office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis, design and detailing of structural systems for building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with codes and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design calculations for a variety of building and infrastructure projects.
• Develop structural plans, details, and specifications in line with applicable building codes and engineering standards.
• Model and analyse complex structural systems using ETABS, SAP2000 or RAM Structural System.
• Coordinate with architectural, civil and MEP teams to integrate structural elements into overall project designs.
• Review and validate structural shop drawings and submittals from contractors and fabricators.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams and clients to resolve technical queries and design issues.
• Stay current with the latest building codes, design standards and industry best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the firm’s design processes and technical resources.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.
• 5+ years of experience in structural design, focusing on building and/or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with structural design software such as ETABS, SAP2000 or RAM Structural System.
• Strong understanding of load calculations, member design and detailing.
• Familiarity with building codes, design standards and construction materials.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
