Data Entry Operator (HMIS Officer)

About the role

The Data Entry Operator (HMIS Officer) will collect, verify and report immunisation data for the Gates Foundation project in Maiduguri, supporting the EPI Department and INTERSOS health and MEAL teams.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and distribute EPI registers, tally sheets and other data collection tools to health facilities and mobile clinics.
• Train field vaccinators, outreach teams and community health workers on the correct use of EPI tools and reporting formats.
• Compile monthly routine immunisation and nOPV2 vaccination coverage data and produce detailed reports.
• Support health and MEAL teams in extracting data from the immunisation database and generating reports according to Gates Foundation and SMOH requirements.
• Conduct regular field visits to ensure data collection and reporting meet SMOH, INTERSOS and Gates Foundation standards.
• Coordinate with the pharmacy team to collect vaccine stock and utilisation data.
• Participate in monthly SMOH (EPI Department) meetings with the Medical Coordinator and Technical Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Public Health, Health Information Management, Statistics, Nursing or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience in a data‑management role within an NGO.
• Results‑oriented, teamwork oriented and flexible.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri is an asset.

Required skills

• Essential computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel).
• Ability to learn and use software for recording data.
