Country Director – Nigeria

About the role

Hugo is seeking a dynamic Country Director to lead and scale its operations in Nigeria. Reporting to the CEO/Regional Head, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality client services while building a high‑performing local management team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute workforce strategy, including staffing, recruiting, onboarding, rostering and performance management.
• Own total rewards: compensation benchmarking, benefits design, payroll accuracy and incentive plans.
• Oversee learning & development to close skill gaps, reduce churn and support career paths.
• Build and lead a senior local team across operations, HR, finance, legal and IT; set objectives, conduct reviews and manage succession planning.
• Drive cost optimisation, manage country P&L, budgeting, forecasting and cash management.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour law, tax and sector regulations; prepare for client and government audits.
• Manage contracts, statutory filings, work permits/visas and vendor relationships.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large, multi‑functional teams in a BPO or similar high‑complexity environment.
• Strong track record of operational excellence, cost efficiency and client satisfaction.
• Deep understanding of Nigerian labour, tax and regulatory landscape.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
