WASH Specialist – UNICEF (Multiple Locations, Nigeria)

About the role

The WASH Specialist will support UNICEF’s country programmes across several states in Nigeria, providing technical guidance and management support for water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives. Reporting to the Chief of WASH or WASH Manager, the role contributes to the design, implementation and monitoring of WASH interventions aligned with UNICEF’s strategic plan.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, prepare and manage WASH programme plans, results frameworks and monitoring tools.
• Provide technical guidance to UNICEF staff, government counterparts and implementing partners.
• Support humanitarian WASH preparedness and response activities.
• Contribute to donor proposals, annual workplans and strategic documentation.
• Ensure WASH indicators, baselines and targets are evidence‑based and aligned with national and UNICEF strategies.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, Public Health or related field.
• Experience in programme development, monitoring and evaluation within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to work with government agencies, NGOs and international partners.
