Vice President – Legal

About the role

The client, a leading investment holding company operating across real estate, logistics and other key sectors, is looking for a Vice President – Legal. The role provides high‑level legal and company secretarial support to the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with Nigerian regulators and effective management of contractual, litigation and intellectual property matters.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Company Secretary/Group General Counsel with statutory filings to NGX, SEC, FRCN, CAC, Ministry of Interior and Immigration Service.
• Prepare, review and manage contracts, memoranda of understanding and other legal documents for all group companies.
• Coordinate annual general meetings and other shareholder engagements.
• Oversee payment of listing, depositary, proxy and regulatory fees.
• Manage the group’s litigation portfolio, monitoring external counsel and updating case files.
• Supervise the intellectual property portfolio, maintaining an up‑to‑date trademark schedule.
• Ensure proper administration of property titles, tenancies and leases.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Barrister at Law (BL) qualification.
• Master of Laws (LLM) preferred.
• Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN).
• Minimum 10 years post‑call experience in functional legal and company secretarial roles.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of NGX Regulation, Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and Corporate Affairs Commission requirements.
• Experience drafting and reviewing commercial agreements.
• Proficiency in managing litigation and intellectual property matters.
• Ability to coordinate statutory filings and corporate governance processes.
