Treasury & Financial Institutions Group Head

About the role

The Treasury & Financial Institutions Group Head will shape and execute the Group’s treasury strategy, ensuring robust liquidity, risk management, and financing solutions across all subsidiaries. Reporting to senior executive management, this role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on operational leadership in a complex, multi‑industry environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement treasury strategy, policies, governance framework and operating procedures.
• Oversee daily liquidity management, cash positioning, working capital, inter‑company funding and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Optimize cash utilization, capital structure, debt management and funding requirements.
• Identify, monitor and hedge foreign‑exchange exposures in line with CBN regulations.
• Build and maintain relationships with commercial banks, investment banks, DFIs and other financial partners.
• Negotiate and manage credit facilities, revolving facilities, overdrafts, trade finance instruments and guarantees.
• Oversee trade finance operations to support uninterrupted procurement and supply‑chain activities.
• Manage treasury‑related financial risks and provide regular risk reports to executive management.
• Administer short‑term investment portfolios and ensure compliance with investment guidelines.
• Supervise treasury systems, banking platforms, internal controls, reconciliations and reporting.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Operations and subsidiary leadership on strategic financing and capital projects.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Group Treasury team, driving continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline.
• MBA or Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, CTP or ACT are mandatory.
• 12–18 years of progressive treasury, corporate banking or financial risk management experience.
• At least 5 years in a senior treasury leadership role within large manufacturing, mining, energy, oil & gas, industrial organisations or leading financial institutions.
